Thornydykes GRE03_01_053

Thornydykes, Blackburn Road, Sharples, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Greater Manchester. The exterior of Thornydykes, located on land between Blackburn Road and Ivy Bank Road. Photograohed between 1860 and 1874.
During the late 1800s Thornydykes (spelled Thorneydykes in the album) was home to Thomas Greenhalgh, an Associate of the Archaeological Association and a man of independant means. The house was demolished in the 1930s and the houses of Thornydyke Avenue now occupy the site
