Poster Print of Visiting the White Horse CC97_02604

Visiting the White Horse CC97_02604

Visiting the White Horse CC97_02604
A group of small children sitting around the neck of the Uffington White Horse, Woolstone, with the Oxfordshire countryside stretching out into the distance beneath them. This is an Iron Age chalk carving still prominent on the hillside, which gives the area its name - Vale of the White Horse. The mix of adults and children suggest this may be a family group out for a ramble. Photographed by Henry Taunt between 1890 and 1910.
