York Minster interior a42_04754
York Minster, Minster Yard, York. An interior view of York Minster, also known as St Peters Cathedral Church, looking west from the choir and showing the choir screen and crossing in the background. The choir screen is under the eastern crossing arch, and has niches with sculpted figures on the western side. The eastern side has a gothic wooden structure with a central doorway. The screen, pulpit and Archbishops throne are all gothic and by Sir Robert Smirke after a fire in 1829. They are in keeping with the original 15th century fittings
