Cathedral Church of Notre-Dame de Paris, Ile de la Cite, Paris, France. The Gothic Cathedral was begun in 1160, replacing earlier churches on the same site. The spire was added during 19th century restoration works, but collapsed during a fire in 2019. The facade was cleared of soot in the 1960s. Photographed in the late 1940s by Aerofilms Ltd
