Skefko Ball Bearing Company Limited, Leagrave Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, 1918. The Skefko Ball Bearing Company premises on Leagrave Road with landscaping work underway on the land to the south of the factory. The Skefko Ball Bearing Company (SKF) was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1907. The Luton factory, which had opened in 1911, more than doubled in size during the First World War in order to meet the increased demand for bearings
