APSLEY HOUSE, London. General Lord Robert Edward Henry Somerset (1776-1842) sketched by Jan Willem PIENEMAN in 1821 (WM 1484-1948). In 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo, Major-General Somerset commanded the Household Cavalry Brigade, which endured heavy enemy fire and charged Milhauds French cuirassiers. Brigadier Somerset was mentioned in dispatches by Wellington
