Clevedon Pier, North Somerset. This Victorian pier was originally opened in 1869. During stress testing in 1970 two of the spans collapsed. Demolition was proposed but the pier was reassembled and reopend in 1989. Shown here with the spans missing in November 1970. Photographed by Jim Hancock
