Tales of balloon flight. Intrepid balloonists Cecil Shadbolt (left) and Captain William Dale (right) posed in the basket of a gas balloon. Shadbolts camera can be seen, attached to the side of the basket. On 29th June 1892, Shadbolt and Dale were involved in a tragic balloon accident at Crystal Palace. Dale was killed and Shadbolt died of his injuries soon afterwards. From the Cecil Victor Shadbolt collection of lantern slides dating from 1882-1892
