Buttercross renovation JLP01_10_18910
BUTTERCROSS, HIGH STREET, LUDLOW, SHROPSHIRE. Two stonemasons carving replacement stone blocks during renovation work at the Buttercross.
Renovation work on the Buttercross was carried out by Laing Stonemasonry with work starting in August 1984. The grade I listed building, which was originally built in 1743-46, was restored using the local Grinshill Sandstone from Shropshire. The architects for the refurbishment were Catterall, Morris & Jaboor of Shrewsbury.
