Latton Priory IC306_001
LATTON PRIORY, LATTON BUSH, NORTH WEALD BASSETT, EPPING FOREST, ESSEX. A reconstruction painting showing an oblique view of Latton Priory as it may have appeared in the late 12th century.
Latton Priory was a small priory founded in the 12th century, with the original community consisting of just a prior and two canons. John Taylor, the last prior and the only remaining canon at the time of the Dissolution, abandoned the priory following an inquistion in 1534. In 1536 the property was confiscated by the Crown and granted to Sir Henry Parker
