Vaults a65_00065
Adelphi Terrace Vaults, London. Light flooding through apertures. The Adelphi Vaults were built in the 1770s by the Adam brothers. The vaults formed riverside warehousing, with a terrace of quality housing including the Royal Terrace (later the Adelphi Terrace) above. The construction of the Victorian Embankment removed its Thames frontage. Photographed by William A Clark in 1936
