Stow Horse Fair MCF01_02_1053

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD, COTSWOLD, GLOUCESTERSHIRE. A crowd and an auctioneer in a white coat gathered on a road at the Stow Horse Fair.
A fair in Stow has been in existence for over 500 years when a charter was granted in 1476 for it to take place twice a year in May and October. Originally a place to sell sheep as the trade in wool declined, the fair became a horse fair attracting gypsies and travellers from all over the country
