Work began on the construction of a new runway at Gaydon Airfield in early 1952. This was followed by a second contract for the construction of more than 100 Easiform buildings, 23 Nissen Huts, and Air Ministry buildings. In 1954, Laing began building two new aircraft hangars at the airfield
