Bentley Grange shaft mounds 20721_047
Bentley Grange, Denby Dale, Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Shaft mounds formed as the spoil heaps of a series of pits used for iron ore mining. Bentley Grange was one of the holdings of the Cistercian monastery of Byland Abbey. Documents suggest that mining here may have stopped by the mid-1400s
