Vermail House PLA01_02_64
Paradox nightclub, Ormskirk Road, Aintree, Aintree Village, Sefton, Merseyside. The clock tower of Vermail House, formerly the headquarters of Vernons Football Pools, in use as the Paradox nightclub.
Vermail House was thought to be the first purpose-built offices by a pools company in Britain. Vernons was one of the largest football pools companies. It was acquired by Ladbrokes in 1989. Vermail House became a night club known as Paradox in the 1990s. In the mid 2000s the majority of the building was demolished, though the clock tower remained. This was also cleared in around 2012 ahead of redevelopment of the site as a retail unit
