Copthall Stadium, Hendon, Barnet, Greater London. Two men jumping towards the finishing line of the men's sack race at the annual Laing Sports Day held at Copthall Stadium.
In 1966, the annual Laing employees Sports Day was held on 25th June at Copthall Stadium in Hendon. It was the first time the event had been held there, having previously taken place the Laing Sports Ground at Elstree. A range of events included athletics and a football competition, and competitors travelled from the firm's regional offices and sites, including from Scotland and Carlisle. There was also a funfair, marching band, and sports competitions for children. The sports events were followed by a barbecue and social evening. This photograph was published in the August 1966 edition of Team Spirit, the Laing employee newsletter. The men's sack race was won by R. Penny, with G. White taking second place

An estimated 300 people attended the December 1980 charity football match between a team of Laing players and English actor Dennis Waterman's All Stars. The match was held to raise money for the Jerry Doherty Heart Fund. The game finished 2-2 and ?452 in total was raised. Stars on Dennis Waterman's team included Jan Webster, ex-England rugby scrum half; Danny Rioch, ex-Aston Villa; Jonathan Kyd, from children's TV programme Pipkins; John Inchmore, Worcester County cricketer; and Bob McNab, ex-Arsenal full back. Playing on the Laing side were Dave Hall, Tim Smith, Kevin Blande, Geoff Seager, Richard Sawyer, Chris Martin, Dave Offord, Graham Hollis, Will Kellett, Mike Reed, Bob Louden, Dave Butcher and Phil Brown. Laing Sports Ground, Rowley Lane, Elstree, Barnet, Greater London. People competing in the swinging dummy stage of the It's a Knockout style competition at the 1986 Family Day at Laing's Sports Ground.
Over 2500 people attended the Family Day and raised over £700 for that year's designated charity The British Heart Foundation. Attractions included; guest appearances by the cast of the television programme Grange Hill, a bouncy castle, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows, Pierre the Clown, children's races, blindfold stunt driving and golf and six-a-side football tournaments. Eight teams entered the It's a knockout competition and it was won by a team named The Floppies from the Information Services Department. This photograph was used in the August 1986 edition of Team Spirit, the Laing company newsletter reporting on the event
