Minstrel UXC01_01_01_0364_14
Minster Church Of St John, Minster Yard, Beverley, East Riding Of Yorkshire. Detail of a sculpted hoodmould stop on the north aisle wall of St John's Minster Church, showing a minstrel, possibly female, holding an instrument in their left hand and playing with their right. The sculpted minstrel holds an instrument with two levels in their left hand, and plays with their right hand. Due to the way they are playing the instrument, it is either a small perscussion instrument, or a string instrument which is plucked. The lower section of the instrument and right hand have been damaged. The player wears a wimple and long robes, and the left leg is crossed over the right knee. The sculpture is situated on the wall of the north aisle, in the third bay from the right of the north door
