GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY STATION EXTENSION, Liverpool Street, London. Interior showing the completed roof structure with two figures in shot. Liverpool Street opened as the London terminus of the Great Eastern Railway in 1874. This eastern shed was opened 2 April 1894, but was removed in 1985 to make way for new developments. Finmere Station, Oxfordshire 1904 BB98_05550

FINMERE STATION, Oxfordshire. The Great Central Railway Company built this station on the line from Sheffield through Nottingham and Leicester to London in 1898-9. A new Great Central Railway terminus was built at Marylebone. Behind these porters are posters advertising tickets for trips to London. These journeys would be unthinkable for most people before the coming of the railways. Photographed by Alfred Newton and Son in 1904
