In 1947, after a seven year break, Laing had resurrected their Area Outings for staff and their families, with trips taking place in May and June. Twelve outings were arranged to take place in the early summer of 1956. This outing was for Laing employees from North and South Wales, including Bala, Dolgarrog, Maentwrog, Rheidol, Ffestiniog, Cwmbran, Mountain Ash, and Newport
