ANDERTON BOAT LIFT, Cheshire. Floodlit night view from the west. The Boat Lift opened in 1875. It was built to transfer canal boats between the River Weaver Navigation and the Trent & Mersey Canal. The lift originally used hydraulic power before an electric motor was installed in 1904
