Exterior view of the ruins of Lanercost Priory, most likely of the south side. The right side of the image shows a three storey section of the old priory, possibly the south transept, which has a small round arch entrance on the west side in the corner, and a triangle shape above the second storey on the south facing side. To the right is the nave of the priory, which is still used as the parish church, St Marys Church. The full height of the former nave can be seen, with the tiled roof intact. In the background is the remains of a tower and in the foreground a raised path of grass can be seen, bordered by a small stone wall that follows the shape of the outer walls. The priory was founded by the Augustine order and was visited on a few occasions by Edward I, including in 1306-07 when he was taken ill and stayed for six months. Lanercost Priory was dissolved in 1537 during the reign of Henry VIII, and was given to Sir Thomas Dacre. The site is currently cared for by English Heritage. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
