Mrs Cosway 6B_PAL_1789_a
Schomberg House, 80-82 Pall Mall, London. An engraving showing the view from Mr Cosways Breakfast-Room at Schomberg House, looking towards Westminster Abbey, with Mrs Cosway seated in the foreground. Richard Cosway (1742-1821) was a leading portrait painter, his wife Maria Cosway (1760-1838) was also an accomplished artist who exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts. A note beneath the engraving records that the landscape was painted by William Hodges, RA, and the portrait was painted by Rd. Cosway. The whole was engraved by W. Birch, 1789.
