Oxford Street flagship store MBC01_03_031

Marks and Spencer, Oxford Street, City of Westminster, Greater London. The flagship Marks and Spencer store at 458-464 Oxford Street, on the corner with Orchard Street, seen from the south-east.
The store opened in November 1930. Bovis Limited reputedy built the store in 17 days. Natwest bank shared the ground and first floor premises until 1994. The bank's logo can be seen in this photograph displayed in the first floor windows

Cornhill shops Bury St Edmunds MBC01_02_002

Boots, Cornhill, Bury St. Edmunds, West Suffolk. The Boots store and Post Office at 15 and 17-18 Cornhill.
The Boots store at 15 Cornhill was built in 1910-1911 and was designed by Michael Vyne Treleaven, Boots in-house architect. The first floor windows are flanked by statues of Agricola, St Edmund, Edward I and Edward VI, sculpted by Gilbert Seale and Son Ltd. The Post Office at 17-18 Cornhill was built in 1896 and was designed by H Tanner of H M Office of Works. In the early 2000s, 15 Cornhill was occupied by W H Smith. The Post Office later moved from 17-18 Cornhill to the same premises as W H Smith next door, and the original Post Office building was redeveloped in 2020 to create two commercial units and flats behind the original facade

F W WOOLWORTH AND COMPANY LIMITED, LEA BRIDGE ROAD, LEYTON, WALTHAM FOREST, GREATER LONDON. The Lea Bridge Road elevation of the F W Woolworth and Co Ltd store at 612-614 Lea Bridge Road, seen from the north.
The store on Lea Bridge Road was originally numbered store 129, and opened in 1923. It was renumbered as Woolworth's store 2024 in the 2000s. The building has two facades, the main elevation on Lea Bridge Road, shown in this photograph, and a smaller entrance on High Road to the north-east. The store closed in 2008 and the premises later became an Iceland store
