Tattershall Castle DD73_00173
Tattershall Castle, Tattershall, Lincolnshire, 1857. Attributed to Henry D Taylor (b 1814), paper negative. A rare example of a fortified medieval house, the brick tower was built between the 1430s and 1440s on the site of a 13th century castle. Lord Curzon of Kedleston famously saved it from destruction in 1911 and used it as a catalyst to force key heritage protection legislation through parliament in 1913
