DONNINGTON CASTLE, Newbury, Berkshire. The Great Gatehouse, a three storey building with two round towers projected from the main body of the castle. The castle was built in 1386 by Sir Richard de Abbesbury and is now mostly ruins. The gatehouse is now in the care of English Heritage. Photographed by Henry Taunt c.1900
