ST THOMAS HOSPITAL, LAMBETH PALACE ROAD, LAMBETH, GREATER LONDON. Looking along the central avenue between four new blocks at St Thomas Hospital, with the hospital sign in the foreground, from the east.
Work on Phase II of a rebuilding project at St Thomas Hospital was undertaken by Laing and began in early 1969 and was completed in 1975. This phase included a new ward block, operating suites, outpatients department, research institute, nurses home and nurses training school. Phase I had been completed in 1966 by Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons; Phase III of the project was planned to begin in 1975
